Event Posters

Role: Graphic Design

Overview

With a background in the Arts and Entertainment industry (specifically music), I’ve had a lot of fun creating event posters over the years, highlighting local and touring music and theatre performances. (I also sing in the choirs advertised!)

Details:

  • Selection presented: How I work with artists and organizations on event posters, album art, and other supporting materials depends on the client’s timeline and budget. Like any kind of client-designer relationship, some will have some a very distinct idea of what they want aesthetically, and others may supply options for hero images and are otherwise open to me taking creative direction. For this selection, I’ve chosen posters where I took the creative lead. All of these clients are ones I’ve worked with for many events over the years, so we were both familiar with each other’s styles and needs.

  • Process: I begin with confirming content to include, create 2-3 draft designs, share them with the client for feedback, and then refine the design of their chosen direction for another round of two. I also roll out a collection of supporting digital assets as needed (social media banners and posts, event link banners).

Album Art

Role: Graphic Design

About the client: Mesa Luna is an electronic artist, also known for their remixes done for Charlotte Day Wilson, Hannah Georgas, and Harrison. I created album art (digital) for a remix of Harrison ft. a l l i e's "Vertigo".

Details:

For this project, the client was first interested in leading with hand-drawn type–referencing another piece of album art in my portfolio at the time–and after a first pass, we decided instead to lean into the bright graphic textures presented. The client later found some additional inspiration (the speckled texture on an 80s bike locked up around town) and I was thrilled to lean into the 80s road bike aesthetic. The client, then working in a record store, also shared some fun covers from the store for layout reference. With this feedback and these resources, the next round of draft designs presented three new refined versions. From there, the design was tweaked until we landed on this final cover art.
